RASC News Agency: Michael McCaul, Chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, has fiercely criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s nominees, for their policies regarding Afghanistani women. McCaul has stated that Biden and Harris have disregarded the conditions outlined in the Doha Agreement, signed during Donald Trump’s presidency, abandoning the women of Afghanistan. He emphasized that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris must be held accountable for their complicity with the Taliban in the exploitation of Afghanistani women.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee added, “Under President Trump, the Doha Agreement made the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan conditional on whether the Taliban could meet basic requirements, including respecting women’s rights.” McCaul, who asserts that Afghanistani women deserve the best, accused the Taliban of imposing the harshest restrictions on this segment of society. Over the past three years, the Taliban have indeed imposed numerous and severe restrictions on Afghanistani women.
Although the Taliban pledged in the Doha Agreement to uphold women’s rights to education, employment, and participation in society, they have not only failed to honor these commitments but have also imposed further restrictions on women’s lives. Despite witnessing the dire human rights situation in Afghanistan, the United States continues to provide millions of dollars in funding to the Taliban every month.
