Women’s Movement for Freedom: The Alternative Solution for Afghanistan Lies in the Overthrow of the Taliban Regime

RASC News Agency: A group of women, under the banner of the “Women’s Movement for Freedom,” has issued a statement on the third anniversary of Kabul’s fall to the Taliban, declaring that the Taliban have sustained their regime solely through the barrel of a gun. They assert that the only viable solution for Afghanistan is an alternative to the Taliban government.

Members of this movement have emphasized that the Taliban’s reliance on violence has been their primary means of consolidating power. During a gathering held in a concealed location in Kabul, the movement highlighted that three years of the Taliban’s oppressive rule have brought devastating consequences: widespread poverty, unemployment, organized violence, crippling taxes, ethnic, linguistic, and cultural discrimination, forced displacement, and the complete exclusion of women from all aspects of social and political life, deeply afflicting the psyche of the Afghanistani people.

The movement pointed out that the arrival of the Taliban has been synonymous with the onset of poverty and unemployment. The statement further underscored that over the past three years, the Taliban have persisted in a policy of oppression, suppression, monopolization, discrimination, and ethnic tyranny, ensuring the survival of their “illegitimate regime” solely through the use of force. The women also condemned the infamous Doha Agreement and the irresponsible withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, attributing the current catastrophe to these actions. They argued that the agreement lacks legitimacy and must be annulled.

The movement asserted that the only viable solution to Afghanistan’s current problems and challenges is the establishment of an alternative to the Taliban government. The statement declared: “We call upon the international community and the United Nations to refrain from recognizing this terrorist group, as legitimizing the Taliban would confer legitimacy upon global terrorism. Any engagement with this criminal group constitutes an endorsement of violence against humanity.”

This group of women has also urged the international community to officially recognize the gender-based apartheid in Afghanistan. Furthermore, they have called on the United States to cease its aid to the Taliban. The movement has appealed to human rights activists, mosque Imams, and the Afghanistani people to stand in solidarity with the women of Afghanistan to prevent the continuation of the Taliban’s oppression and tyranny.
