According to these sources, the young girl ended her life by shooting herself at her residence. The reasons behind this tragic act remain unclear, as no details have been provided by the Taliban authorities in Kandahar. This incident follows closely after another recent tragedy where a young woman in Badakhshan committed suicide. Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, there has been a troubling increase in the suicide rate among girls and women. Over the past three years, a significant number of Afghanistani women and girls have ended their lives.
Factors such as poverty, unemployment, and familial issues have contributed to this tragic trend, claiming many lives. Since the Taliban’s takeover, both poverty and unemployment have sharply increased, leaving many families struggling for basic necessities.
