RASC News Agency: The United Nations World Food Programme has announced the distribution of food aid to over 700,000 girls and boys. On Wednesday, June 26, the organization released footage showing enriched biscuit packages being distributed via the X network, highlighting daily utilization by girls and boys. The World Food Programme stated that this food assistance is provided to schoolchildren to ensure their active engagement and enhanced learning.
It is noteworthy that the World Food Programme previously reported that one-fourth of Afghanistan’s population goes to bed hungry every day. The report from the World Food Programme indicated that over 12 million people in Afghanistan do not know where their next meal will come from. Since the Taliban regained control of the country, Afghanistan has been grappling with a severe humanitarian and economic crisis.
Criticism has been directed at the Taliban for failing to create employment opportunities, thereby exacerbating poverty among citizens. Following the Taliban’s takeover, a significant number of citizens, especially youth, have left the country due to economic hardships and restrictions imposed by the group, seeking refuge in neighboring countries and beyond.
It is noteworthy that neighboring countries like Iran and Pakistan, which have hosted millions of Afghanistani refugees for several years, are now intensifying efforts to repatriate these migrants.
