Denmark’s Over Seven Million Dollar Aid to Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: The United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan (UN_STFA) has announced Denmark’s $7.29 million aid package to Afghanistan. According to a statement released on Monday, June 10, by the United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan on the X network, this marks Denmark’s third round of aid to the country.

The statement highlights that this aid aims to bolster collective efforts in providing essential services to the Afghanistani population, particularly focusing on women’s empowerment, climate change mitigation, and sustainable solutions for refugees and returnees. In a previous instance, Denmark also contributed $6.2 million, equivalent to 42 million Danish krone, to Afghanistan in the past year.

Recently, the European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) declared its commitment to providing 150 million euros to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s assumption of power in the country has led to a rise in unemployment and poverty rates among families, exacerbated by natural disasters occurring in various provinces.
