RASC News Agency: Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front, asserted in a message commemorating the martyrs of the “Uprising for Change” movement that the Afghanistani people must not allow any group to exacerbate violence and terror through hostage-taking of both the populace and the country. Massoud delivered this message during an online event on Monday evening, June 3, attended by political, social, and cultural leaders of the nation, including both men and women. The event was named “Seventh Anniversary of the Martyrs of June 2017 and the Uprising for Change.”
He emphasized the necessity of following the path and aspirations of the martyrs of the “Uprising for Change” and other martyrs of the homeland’s cause, stressing the importance of unity and coherence in the struggle and resistance. Since the early days of the Resistance Front under Ahmad Massoud’s leadership, the front has emphasized the need for unity and cohesion among all resistors and military factions, making concerted efforts to achieve this goal.
Simultaneously, Mohammad Alam Izedyar, former Deputy Speaker of the Afghanistan Senate, spoke about the martyrs of the Uprising for Change. He stated, “Former President Ashraf Ghani threatened the members of the investigative committee probing the murders of Salem Izadyar and other martyrs of the Uprising to prevent a comprehensive investigation.” He added, “In the early days following the Uprising for Change incident, Ashraf Ghani declared that those who fired upon the protesters would be prosecuted. However, once it was determined who was involved in the shootings, their arrests were not permitted.”
The protest following the explosion at the Zanbaq Square led to the death of five individuals, including Mohammad Salem Izedyar, the son of Mohammad Alam Izedyar. Prior to that, an explosion at Zanbaq Square in June 2017 in Kabul resulted in the deaths of 150 people.
