RASC News Agency: Local sources report that a vehicle collision resulting in six deaths on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway was caused by gunfire from Taliban members. Sources informed the media on Thursday, April 25, that the incident occurred the previous night in the Surobi district of Kabul province.
Earlier, the Taliban police spokesperson in Kabul province announced on the social media platform X that a traffic accident on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway had left five people dead and one injured. However, according to local sources, the Taliban members opened fire on the vehicle after the occupants did not stop at a Taliban checkpoint. This caused the vehicle to collide with a mountain.
According to the sources, the incident claimed the lives of six young individuals who were residents of Bagram and Jabal Saraj districts in the provinces of Parwan and Panjshir, respectively. The sources identified three of the individuals as Yama, Shakib, and Masoor; the identities of the remaining three victims have not yet been conclusively determined.
The sources added that these individuals lived in the Laisay Maryam area of Kabul city and had been traveling to Surobi for leisure. The sources noted that the Taliban has yet to return the vehicle, which bears evidence of the Taliban’s gunfire, to the family of the vehicle’s owner.
In a similar incident on February 12 of last year, a Taliban shooting at a Corolla passenger vehicle in Kabul resulted in the deaths of all five passengers.
