The United Nations Deems Afghanistan as the Graveyard of Girls’ Hopes

RASC News Agency: The UN Women division announced that as the world strives to empower more girls, Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, has become the graveyard of girls’ dreams and aspirations. UN Women conveyed this sentiment on Thursday, April 25, to mark International Girls in Information and Communication Technology Day, through a statement on the social media platform X. It emphasized its commitment to standing in solidarity with Afghanistani women.

The division also stressed that despite the ban on education, Afghanistani girls remain resolute and undeterred. The organization pledged its support to Afghanistani girls in their struggle for the right to education. International Girls in Information and Communication Technology Day is observed annually on the fourth Thursday of April. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness, foster participation, and empower women’s leadership in this field.

Since the Taliban took control of the country, they have placed increasing restrictions on girls’ lives, barring those beyond the sixth grade from attending school and shutting down universities to them.

Despite widespread domestic and international condemnation of these restrictive policies and the Taliban’s stance on girls’ education and lives, the group has remained unwavering in its ban on girls’ education, showing no signs of compromise.
