RASC News Agency: The Taliban Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced that over two thousand Afghanistani migrants were recently expelled from Iran and repatriated to Afghanistan. According to a statement released by the ministry on Monday, April 22, a total of 2,600 Afghanistani migrants residing in Iran were returned to the country on and April 20.

The statement specified that the recently deported migrants were sent back to Afghanistan via the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat. The director of the Islam Qala border post confirmed that those expelled included both families and individuals, some of whom were referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance.

Since the Taliban assumed control of the country, many citizens have fled to neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan, for various reasons and now face the risk of deportation.

In addition to Iran, Pakistan has also increased its deportation of Afghanistani migrants, beginning the second phase of deportations on March 16 and expelling thousands of individuals since then.
