Taliban in Herat Province Request Addresses of Young Girls and Women from Local Elders

RASC News Agency: Reports from Herat province in western Afghanistan indicate that some Taliban security forces have approached local lawyers and elders in various areas, warning them to find beautiful and young girls for them. A knowledgeable source in Herat province, speaking on condition of anonymity to RASC News Agency on Monday, Apr 8, stated that Taliban forces operating at the intermediate level in this province have approached some lawyers and local elders, cautioning them to promptly prepare several young girls and women for them for marriage purposes. The source asserts that this situation constitutes a grave violation of human rights and women’s rights, which international organizations, especially the United Nations, should fully address and assess. The source adds that day by day, the scope of this issue is becoming increasingly difficult for the people of Afghanistan, particularly in Herat province, and measures must be taken to address such matters. According to the source, it is now time to prevent the disgraceful acts of the ruling group in the country and serve as a lesson to others not to engage in such discussions publicly.

Moreover, a resident of the western region of Afghanistan, who preferred not to be named in the news, told RASC News Agency that some of these same lawyers and local elders are lobbying for certain positions within the Taliban group to implement any plan they have in mind upon the people. He added that lawyers, local landlords, and even some influential figures in the area are doing whatever they can to please prominent members of the Taliban group for their own interests. He also emphasized that collaboration with the Taliban and other issues detrimental to the defenseless and vulnerable people of Afghanistan constitutes a major injustice that the country’s inhabitants will never easily overlook.

Meanwhile, Shafiee Majidzadah, a political affairs expert in the western region of Afghanistan, confirms that the Taliban’s exploitation of girls has increased by 30 percent compared to the past. He added that the Taliban are a vision that only their sympathizers can endure, those who follow them day and night. According to him, if this scenario continues to affect the people, the survival of the Taliban is only as much as their performance is seen in the current environment.

On the other hand, Jalil Farhadi, a political affairs expert in Afghanistan, tells RASC News Agency that members of the Taliban show no mercy to their families and kill them daily. It is worth mentioning that various sectors of Afghanistan society have left the country due to lack of trust in the Taliban and have fled to other countries. It should be noted that many Afghanistanis currently living in foreign countries are leading their lives in the worst possible conditions and are waiting for a spark to establish a comprehensive government in Afghanistan so that they can return to Afghanistan and find salvation from uncertainty.
