RASC News Agency: Michael McCaul, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, asserted that in addition to Afghanistanis, American families have also endured “pain and terror” inflicted by the Taliban group due to the imprisonment of Ryan Corbett, a U.S. citizen, in a Taliban prison. McCaul made these remarks on Monday, Apr 8, during a speech at the premises of the U.S. House of Representatives.
He added, “The catastrophic consequences of America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan could have been foreseen. The Taliban have instilled fear in the region and terrorized the people of Afghanistan, imposing dreadful pain on American families as well.” According to the account of this senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Ryan Corbett has been held in solitary confinement by the Taliban for 607 days, deprived of sunlight.
McCaul further added that as Ryan Corbett’s detention approaches two years, his hopes of returning to the United States diminish. He stated, “Earlier today, I had the opportunity to meet with Anna Corbett, Ryan’s wife, their three teenage children, and his parents. Now, more than ever, they fear for Ryan’s life.”
