RASC News Agency: A media source has received information that Taliban authorities, in the wake of their countrywide takeover, have pillaged and confiscated the assets and residences of former officials and politicians.
According to a special report by the media dated Tuesday, Apr 2, the Taliban group has raided the properties and homes of individuals such as Mir Rahman Rahmani, Atta Mohammad Noor, Abdul Rashid Dostum, Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, Yunus Qanuni, Karim Khalili, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Salahuddin Rabbani, Mohammad Ismail Khan, and several others. The report reveals that the residence of Mir Rahman Rahmani, the former Speaker of Parliament, has drawn the ire of Manan Omari, one of the Taliban’s founders.
Furthermore, the Taliban have provoked anger by seizing the residences and assets of former officials across various provinces of the country. Among these, they have plundered or expressed indignation towards the residence and property of Amanullah Guzar in Kabul and Parwan, the residence and property of Gulam Baha-u-Din Jilani in Parwan, the residence and property of Commander Jan Mohammad Haqju in Parwan, and similarly, they have looted or expressed anger towards the residence and garden of Fazluddin Ayar in Parwan.
The report also mentions the occupation of Atta Mohammad Noor’s guesthouse by the governor of Balkh province and the seizure of his security commander’s office in Mazar-i-Sharif by the Taliban. The residence of Rahmatullah Nabil, the former head of National Security, has been completely demolished in Maidan Wardak province, leaving ruins in its aftermath.
Ibrahim Haqqani’s residence, the former President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai’s abode, has also incurred the wrath of the Taliban. Meanwhile, Fazl Ahmad Manawi, the former Minister of Justice of Afghanistan, has alleged that the Taliban set his residence and library, containing valuable and ancient books, ablaze in Panjshir province.
As the Taliban persist in their wrath and plunder of the residences and assets of former officials, this group has also established a commission for the management and mitigation of such actions on the ground. The report has not provided precise statistics on the exact number of residences and assets of political leaders and former officials that have fallen into the hands of the Taliban.
