RASC News Agency: The report by the international magazine Financial Times asserts that following the Taliban’s seizure of Afghanistan, the nation has been transformed into a sanctuary for global terrorism. Published on Wednesday, March 27th, this recent report from the Financial Times delves into the perilous circumstances unfolding in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
According to the report, the Taliban, upon assuming power in Afghanistan, have established a hub for both regional and trans-regional terrorist entities within Afghanistan borders. Incidents suggest that since the Taliban’s ascension in Afghanistan, neighboring countries have experienced intermittent terrorist assaults, with Pakistan witnessing a threefold increase in such attacks.
Global and regional concerns had previously been articulated regarding the presence and actions of terrorist organizations, including ISIS, operating in Afghanistan under Taliban governance. Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the United States Department of State, has previously underscored that Afghanistan must not become a refuge for “terrorists” under Taliban governance, expressing apprehension about the threats emanating from ISIS in Afghanistan and its environs.
The US Department of State spokesperson emphasized his country’s sustained “vigilance” against ISIS-K threats, affirming collaborative efforts with allies to counter these risks. He further stressed that it is also within the Taliban’s interest to confront “terrorist groups” operating within Afghanistan.
