RASC News Agency: Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the United States Department of State, has emphasized that Afghanistan must not serve as a sanctuary for “terrorists” while under Taliban control. Miller conveyed these sentiments during a press briefing on Tuesday, March 25th, expressing concern over the threats posed by ISIS in Afghanistan and the wider region.

The US Department of State spokesperson underscored that the United States remains steadfast in its vigilance against ISIS-K threats and actively collaborates with its allies to counter these dangers. He further stressed that it is in the Taliban’s interest to confront “terrorist groups” within Afghanistan.

With the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, ISIS-K has escalated its attacks both in Afghanistan and neighboring regions. In the most recent incident, an ISIS suicide bombing outside a bank branch in Kandahar during a gathering of Taliban members resulted in the deaths of 45 individuals and injuries to 56 others.

Following this event, members of the same group launched another assault on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, resulting in a minimum of 140 fatalities. These attacks have heightened concerns regarding the ISIS threat in Afghanistan and its neighboring countries.
