Born in 1954 on the streets of Kabul, Ulfat Ahang pursued his music education in the capital city, where he earned recognition as the foremost music instructor by Mr. Sarahang. Subsequently, Mr. Ahang spent twelve years in India, immersing himself in music under the tutelage of Ustad Munawar Ali Khan and Pandit Amarnath.

Master Ulfat Ahang boasts a repertoire of over 600 compositions and has composed for numerous distinguished Afghanistani vocalists, including Hangama and Fawad Ramez, among others.

In acknowledgment of Master Ulfat Ahang’s indelible contributions to Afghanistan music, former Afghanistan President Ghani honored him with the Mir Masjedi Khan Medal in 2019. He showcased his vocal prowess in both Pashto and Persian languages.
