RASC News Agency: Local sources from Laghman Province report that a former member of the anti-narcotics department, responsible for security in Jowzjan Province, recently succumbed to torture inflicted by the Taliban in the vicinity of this province. Sources informed the media on Thursday, February 29th, that Taliban intelligence had detained this former soldier from Laghman Province nearly 26 days ago, and he passed away yesterday.

According to sources, after severe torture by the Taliban, this former soldier was released through the intervention of local elders and transferred to the hospital for treatment, but doctors were unable to save him. Sources identified this former soldier as Khyber Khan and added that he had suffered internal bleeding due to severe Taliban torture, leading to his demise.

Khyber Khan, a resident of Konj village, hailed from the central areas of Laghman Province. Despite the Taliban’s announcement of a general amnesty, they have detained, imprisoned, tortured, and even killed hundreds of former soldiers during their more than two years of control over the country.

Following their takeover, the Taliban has been repeatedly accused of widespread human rights violations, particularly against women and girls, and has severely suppressed freedom of expression.
