RASC News Agency: Political movements and women in Afghanistan, in their second joint statement regarding the Doha talks, emphasized that the resolution of Afghanistan’s crisis under Taliban rule depends on constructive engagement with all involved parties. According to a statement issued yesterday, Feb 21, by the National Resistance Council, the United Nations must recognize that “the resolution of Afghanistan’s crisis depends on constructive engagement with all parties involved in Afghanistan’s affairs.”
The statement from these movements suggests that a unilateral emphasis on the Taliban’s role in resolving Afghanistan’s crisis will lead to further political deadlock and other actions. The political movements mentioned in this statement include the National Resistance Council, the Islamic Unity Party, the Freedom Front, and some women’s protest movements in Afghanistan.
According to the statement, “the Doha talks did not address the roots of Afghanistan’s half-century crisis under Taliban rule.” These movements, none of which were invited to the Doha talks, have stated that issues such as human rights, poverty, gender apartheid, and forced displacement by an opposing group did not receive attention at this conference, neglecting all human values and rights.
It is worth mentioning that the Doha talks, held on February 18th and 19th, regarding Afghanistan under Taliban rule, were hosted by the United Nations in Doha, Qatar.
