RASC News Agency: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has announced its intention to convene a meeting on the “Situation in Afghanistan” under the Taliban’s rule in Gambia. On Monday night, Feb 19, the organization addressed this issue through a message on its social media platform, X, indicating that representatives from Islamic countries would participate in this gathering.
According to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, another meeting, titled the “Council of Foreign Ministers,” is set to occur in Cameroon. Additionally, the organization noted that Tariq Ali Bakheet, the special envoy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held meetings on the sidelines of the Doha summit with some special envoys from countries concerning Afghanistan. During these meetings, he deemed support for Afghanistan and constructive dialogue with the Taliban as crucial, emphasizing the significance of these aspects.
The two-day Doha summit, hosted by the United Nations Secretary-General on Afghanistan under Taliban rule, which took place on the 18th and 19th of February in Doha, Qatar, concluded yesterday. Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, commented on the summit, stating that while the meeting was effective and constructive, challenges persist in the global community’s engagement with the Taliban.
