RASC News Agency: President Jeenbekov of Kyrgyzstan declared that over 20 terrorist groups are operational in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, with ISIS being the most active and perilous among them. During the sixth gathering of security officials from regional nations held in Bishkek yesterday, Feb 16, President Jeenbekov highlighted the issue. He underscored that despite differences, these groups can swiftly forge new alliances.
In his address to senior security officials from neighboring countries, Jeenbekov cautioned that some individuals, termed “opponents of the Taliban,” might also collaborate with specific terrorists to seize control of Afghanistan. Addressing delegates from participating nations, the Kyrgyzstan President remarked that Afghanistan, under Taliban governance, confronts a diverse array of threats. He specifically singled out ISIS as the most active and hazardous terrorist faction in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
Jeenbekov characterized the current Afghanistan situation as a cautionary signal for Central Asia, emphasizing the potential recruitment of Asian youth by terrorist groups. It’s important to note that officials from Iran, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan attended the meeting.
