RASC News Agency: Vikram Misri, India’s Deputy National Security Advisor, recently emphasized the urgency for the Taliban to prohibit Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed from operating under their influence in Afghanistan. During a security officials meeting in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, held on Friday, Feb 16, Mr. Misri highlighted that the Taliban must obstruct the training and sheltering activities of these groups within Afghanistan.
As reported by the Indian news outlet “News18,” citing Mr. Vikram, he stressed in the meeting that the Taliban should not permit terrorists, including those affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, to establish training camps and safe havens in Afghanistan. Mr. Misri reiterated India’s longstanding and continued role as a significant player in Afghanistan. He further added that India believes adopting a “consensus approach” is crucial for resolving the Afghanistan issue.
The meeting was attended by security officials from Iran, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It is noteworthy that India designates Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed as terrorist organizations. India has declared that several deadly attacks, including the 2001 assault on the Indian Parliament and the 2008 attack on the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, were perpetrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Both groups advocate for the separation of Kashmir from India, and many Western countries, including the United States, label them as “terrorist groups.”
