RASC News Agency: Ali Reza Fazli, the Social Deputy Commander of the Sistan and Baluchestan Border Guards, has revealed that Iranian forces detained two thousand two hundred eighty-five Afghanistani migrants along the borders of Iran with Afghanistan and Pakistan in recent days. According to reports from Iranian media released on Monday, Feb 12, citing Ali Reza Fazli, these migrants were identified and detained by Iranian border guards to prevent the entry of “illegal foreign nationals” from the borders of Sistan and Balochistan.

The Iranian official noted that these Afghanistani migrants intended to enter Iran “irrespective of the restricted border areas” but were apprehended by border guards during their attempt to escape. The head of the office and the Social Deputy Commander of the Sistan and Balochistan Border Guards added that migrants tried to flee towards the Afghanistan and Pakistani sides upon hearing warnings from border officials.

This occurs as in recent months, a substantial number of Afghanistani migrants have been expelled from neighboring countries, including Iran, and have returned to their homeland. It is notable that following the Taliban’s seizure of the country, a significant number of citizens have migrated to neighboring countries and the region due to increased restrictions, rising unemployment, and poverty levels.
