OCHA Reports Portugal's Contribution of 200,000 Euro Aid to Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced Portugal’s €200,000 assistance to Afghanistan under Taliban control. OCHA made this announcement on Monday, Feb 12, through a message on the social media platform X, expressing gratitude to Portugal for this aid to Afghanistan.

According to the agency, Portugal has contributed this money to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund. This assistance comes as, following the Taliban’s resurgence in the country, more citizens have lost their livelihoods, become unemployed, and are in need of humanitarian aid from relief organizations. Despite the increasing humanitarian needs of Afghanistani citizens, OCHA had previously reported a reduction in humanitarian aid from relief organizations to Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s restrictions on women working in foreign non-governmental organizations and the United Nations have immediately affected many Afghanistani families. If these restrictions persist, they are expected to gradually inflict severe damage on Afghanistan’s economic and social development.
