The Taliban group arrested a number of women in Kabul

RASC News Agency: Reports from Kabul suggest that the Taliban group has once again conducted arbitrary arrests, this time targeting a group of young women from the Taimani area. According to sources, these women were apprehended on Sunday, January 7th, and subsequently transported to an undisclosed location. The severity of the situation is underscored by a surfaced video featuring a female student expressing her fear as she discloses that the Taliban have taken her 19-year-old sister away.

Alarmingly, this recent incident follows a pattern of similar actions by the Taliban in recent days. Young girls from Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul province and Jaghori district in Ghazni province have also been singled out and forcibly taken away by the group for not adhering to their stringent dress code. The Taliban’s treatment of these girls has sparked widespread outrage, leading UNAMA to demand an immediate halt to these arbitrary arrests.

It is crucial to acknowledge that the Taliban’s mistreatment of girls and women is not a new phenomenon within the country. Throughout their two-year rule in Afghanistan, they have consistently been involved in the arrest, torture, imprisonment, disappearance, and even killing of females for various reasons. These actions not only violate fundamental human rights but also perpetuate an atmosphere of fear and oppression. The international community must persist in condemning these actions and exerting pressure on the Taliban to respect the rights and dignity of all individuals, irrespective of gender.
