RASC News Agency: Reports from Badakhshan confirm that Mawlawi Tahir, a local Taliban commander, has recently entered his fifth marriage within the province. The media received information about this development on Sunday, December 31st, revealing that the wedding ceremony incurred a cost of four million Kabuli rupees, the current currency in Afghanistan. Sources indicate that Mawlawi Tahir is responsible for collecting tithes from the gold mine located in the Raghistan district of Badakhshan province. The 57-year-old commander has reportedly married a 17-year-old girl without her consent.

Initially disapproving of the marriage, the girl’s family changed their stance when Mawlawi Tahir offered a substantial sum of four million Kabuli rupees to the girl’s father. This financial gesture persuaded the family to give their consent to the wedding.

This news has garnered media attention, particularly because it’s now widely known that Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban group, has advised its members to refrain from entering second, third, and fourth marriages. This development is troubling, given that Taliban members are marrying while a significant portion of the country’s population lives below the poverty line and requires assistance.

It’s crucial to emphasize that some individuals within the country have expressed dissatisfaction with the Taliban group’s behavior, alleging that they are exploiting young girls and jeopardizing their future. This criticism underscores growing concerns about the group’s actions and their societal impact.
