RASC News Agency: According to media reports, Islamabad is orchestrating a high-level summit to confront a myriad of foreign policy challenges, encompassing issues related to Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Gaza. This anticipated gathering is slated to host 20 delegates from various nations, and, as disclosed by The Express Tribune on December 25th, is scheduled for a three-day duration during the initial week of January at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan. In an endeavor to guarantee the triumph of this assembly, Pakistan has extended invitations to its envoys representing 20 countries and international organizations, earnestly urging their active participation.
The report accentuates that Pakistani ambassadors stationed in pivotal nations such as the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, India, Russia, China, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, among others, are anticipated attendees. While it has been customary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan to conduct an annual meeting outlining the nation’s foreign policy strategies, this practice has been dormant for the past four years. However, the impending gathering, as elucidated by The Express Tribune, will signify the first convocation since 2019, reuniting eminent representatives of Pakistan’s foreign policy arena to deliberate on the challenges confronting the country’s diplomacy. It is envisaged that the discourse will encompass topics such as the strains between Pakistan and the Taliban.
Despite recent strains in the relationship between Islamabad and the Taliban group, involving allegations of harboring Pakistani Taliban members and the perceived inaction of the Afghanistani Taliban against these militants, coupled with the compelled repatriation of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, the agenda of the meeting seeks to grapple with a spectrum of urgent issues.
