RASC News Agency: In the aftermath of the detention of journalists and media personnel by the Taliban, sources in Parwan now report the apprehension of a local journalist within this province. Sources in Parwan indicate that this local journalist, named Rohullah Sangar, was apprehended yesterday, December 17th, by the intelligence forces of the Taliban in one of the areas in the city of Charikar and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location. According to information gleaned from sources in Parwan, Rohullah Sangar was detained by Taliban intelligence while in the process of preparing a report, and the circumstances surrounding his capture remain veiled in mystery.
Sources add that despite the family of this journalist making repeated visits to the Taliban, they still possess no information regarding his fate and whereabouts. According to sources, Rohullah Sangar served as a journalist for the private television channel Tolo News, carrying the responsibility of reporting in the provinces of Parwan, Kabul, and Panjshir. This development transpires as the Taliban has previously detained journalists and media personnel in various provinces across the country for diverse reasons, subsequently relocating them to prisons. In the most recent incident on December 5, the Taliban detained another former local journalist named Zameer Zahir from the Jabul -Saraj district in Parwan province.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban has imposed numerous restrictions on the media, instructing media personnel repeatedly to broadcast and publish their programs under their close scrutiny. It should be emphasized that the violent and inappropriate behavior exhibited by the Taliban towards media personnel and journalists has impelled many of them to depart the country, seeking refuge in European nations.
