RASC News Agency: In a recent development concerning the compelled repatriation of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, the Taliban consulate in Karachi has issued a proclamation. As per consulate officials, a total of 99 Afghanistani citizens have been released from incarceration in Sindh province, Pakistan. This information was disseminated through videotapes released by the consulate on Sunday, December 17th. Of the 99 detainees, 56 have been repatriated to Afghanistan, while the remaining individuals have been liberated and permitted to return to their residences.
Among the emancipated prisoners were six children who had been held in various Sindh province prisons. It is noteworthy that 33 of the 99 released immigrants possessed legal permits, enabling them to return home post-release. The Taliban consulate in Karachi underscores the continuity of their endeavors to secure the release of prisoners. Indeed, over the past year, a total of 2,997 individuals have been emancipated from Sindh province prisons and repatriated to Afghanistan through the Chaman border.
Despite the recent upsurge in forced deportations of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan and Iran, with thousands returning daily, concerns persist regarding the predicament of these displaced individuals. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has voiced apprehensions, asserting that Afghanistan, under Taliban governance, lacks the requisite resources and capacity to absorb these refugees. The situation remains formidable, and endeavors are underway to address the exigencies of the returning refugees.
