RASC News Agency: In the ongoing saga of the detention and torture inflicted upon erstwhile government military personnel by the Taliban, associates closely linked to a former soldier situated in Panjshir province affirm that he has recently been subjected to detainment, maltreatment, and torment at the hands of this militant faction. Sources disclosed this Monday, December 18th, that the forces of the Taliban apprehended the former military luminary, identified as “Gul Mohammad Nazari,” an erstwhile soldier in national security, a mere three days ago near the precincts of the Kraman region in this province.
As per information emanating from a confidant of the ex-soldier, the Taliban released him yesterday, December 17th, subsequent to a harrowing two-day period of torture. This liberation was purportedly secured through the intervention of “Sheikh Masihullah,” the principal figure presiding over the group’s Jihadi academy. It is asserted that owing to the severity of the Taliban’s inflicted torment, Gul Mohammad has been transferred to the emergency hospital in Panjshir province. Curiously, the rationale behind the Taliban’s detention, torture, and maltreatment of this former soldier remains shrouded in ambiguity. This perplexing occurrence transpires notwithstanding previous instances wherein the Taliban, in Panjshir and other provinces, detained, tortured, and in some instances, terminated the lives of numerous erstwhile military personnel.
Of particular note is the disclosure by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the Security Council, wherein it was reported that the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan meticulously documented no fewer than 10 extrajudicial executions, 21 instances of arbitrary detentions, and eight cases involving the torture of former military personnel and officials of the antecedent government by the Taliban, all transpiring within the last three months. Despite the Taliban’s public proclamation of amnesty, their persistent engagement in a myriad of actions, including detentions, incarcerations, torture, and, on occasion, fatalities involving former government military personnel across diverse provinces, continues to confound observers.
In a recent episode, an erstwhile employee of the antecedent government, subsequent to release from a Taliban detention facility in Khost province, succumbed to injuries sustained during the group’s brutal torture. It is imperative to underscore that the Taliban have thus far evaded accountability for these transgressions against any established authority.
