RASC News Agency: Sources from Sar-e-Pol province have verified that an organization named ACTED has supplied kitchen garden tools to approximately 4,000 women. The distribution occurred on Wednesday, December 13th, targeting women in the districts of Gosfandi, Sancharak, and Balkhab. ACTED officials stated that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) financially supported this initiative. The primary goal of providing these tools to women is to enhance food security and foster economic growth within households in these districts.
The recipients of these kitchen garden tools are expected to establish gardens in their homes and use the produce to generate income. It is crucial to note that following the Taliban’s takeover, women were barred from pursuing education, employment, and engaging in activities outside their homes. Consequently, many women have been confined to their yards due to these restrictions imposed by the Taliban.
International aid agencies have already announced the distribution of various aid items and the creation of employment opportunities for Afghanistani citizens across different provinces. However, reports indicate that poverty has intensified in numerous households due to various factors, including the unemployment of women and the limited job prospects for men in different regions. The Taliban’s actions have severely restricted the basic rights of Afghanistani women and girls, confining them primarily to the healthcare sector in terms of employment and activities.
