RASC News Agency: Amid a growing surge in suicide cases among the nation’s citizens, recent reports from Faryab reveal the end of two lives—a man and a woman—both choosing to take their own lives. Sources in Faryab indicate that on Monday, December 4th, a woman named Bibi Gul, residing in the village of Mir Adam, Almar district of the province, ended her life by throwing herself into a well. Information from sources suggests that Bibi Gul, grappling with mental illness, resorted to this drastic act as a successful means of self-harm.

In a parallel incident, on Tuesday, December 5th, 78-year-old Nazar Mohammad took a similar path, casting himself into a well in the village of Bazar Qalah, Dolat Abad district of Faryab province. After being transferred to the hospital, he succumbed to his fate. Sources state that the motive behind these suicides remains unknown, and the Taliban group has not issued any comments on these distressing incidents. This unsettling trend coincides with a recent rise in suicide rates among citizens in various provinces, notably in Faryab.

It is noteworthy that the suicide rate during the two years of the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan has significantly increased for reasons yet to be specified, with daily reports disseminating through the media. Experts point to factors such as poverty, unemployment, inherent challenges within the country, Taliban-imposed restrictions, and mental health issues as driving individuals within society to contemplate suicide and bring about their untimely demise.
