RASC News Agency: The annual report on global terrorism recently released by the U.S. Department of State highlights the persistent presence and activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan under the dominance of the Taliban group. The report, made public on Friday, December 1st, indicates that the Taliban Group’s efforts to prevent the activities of terrorist groups remain unclear, with elements of regional terror organizations still operating in Afghanistan. According to the U.S. Department of State’s annual report, ISIS-Khorasan attacks in Afghanistan, primarily targeting non-combatants, continue under the influence of the Taliban Group.
The report specifies two terrorist groups actively operating in Afghanistan: ISIS-Khorasan, referred to by the Taliban as “Khawarij,” and Al-Qaeda, which a representative of the Taliban group claimed recently consists of their jihadist brethren. Despite Al-Qaeda’s presence in Afghanistan and affiliated groups in the Indian subcontinent, these entities have not demonstrated the capability to organize and execute attacks from Afghanistan to the West, as outlined in the report.
The U.S. Department of State, in its report, also notes several cross-border ISIS attacks on Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, signaling the group’s intention to conduct operations in the West. It is noteworthy that previous reports indicated the activity of over 20 terrorist groups in Afghanistan, causing regional countries to express repeated concerns. It is essential to mention that the Taliban, as of now, has not provided a response to the U.S. Department of State’s report.
