RASC News Agency: In the relentless continuation of oppressive measures imposed on women and girls in Afghanistan by the Taliban regime, the Department of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice recently made a discouraging declaration in Badakhshan. It stated that any woman who does not conform to the strict code of Islamic hijab would be barred from entering government and foreign offices, further infringing upon their rights.
In a statement released on October 23rd, the ministry highlighted a meeting between Shir Mohammad Javad, the department’s head, and local officials, as well as representatives of international organizations. During these discussions, the department head emphasized the necessity for female employees to strictly adhere to Islamic hijab, subsequently urging the provision of separate facilities catering to their needs.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban group has gone so far as to demand compliance from male employees as well, insisting on the adoption of the Prophet’s traditions, both in appearance and conduct. Additionally, they have mandated the performance of the five daily prayers in congregation.
These restrictive measures come in the wake of the Taliban’s seizure of control over Afghanistan, a period marked by the imposition of an array of oppressive policies, particularly targeting women. The Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, established throughout the country, is actively striving to enforce a way of life in accordance with their ideologies, using aggressive means if necessary.
Reports reveal that in Faryab province just a month ago, this extremist group took drastic measures, cutting the hair of several students and even closing off the dormitory gate simply because they were found listening to music.
Afghanistan stands as the sole country where women and girls, following the Taliban’s ascension, are stripped of their fundamental rights to education and employment, revealing the grave magnitude of this dire situation.
