RASC News Agency: Amidst the harrowing circumstances faced by the afflicted victims of the Herat earthquakes, the World Food Program (WFP) has recently issued a compelling plea for a staggering sum of 19 million dollars. This urgent appeal aims to render much-needed assistance to the staggering 100,000 individuals who have been impacted by the catastrophic events in the region. On the 18th of October, the organization released a statement, emphasizing the dire and pressing need for aid to be extended to the tens of thousands of people direly affected in Herat. Regrettably, the WFP is currently confronted with a severe shortage of funds, despite its ongoing efforts to provide support to the victims.
To address this devastating crisis, the WFP has meticulously devised a comprehensive plan that entails offering vital sustenance and indispensable cash aid to the earthquake victims in Herat for a duration spanning from three to seven months. Moreover, it is paramount to underscore that the organization has unequivocally stressed the imperative need for an additional colossal sum of 400 million dollars, enabling the expeditious distribution of food aid to the vulnerable and destitute individuals residing in the region prior to the arrival of the impending winter, which poses significant challenges to transportation routes.
