RASC News Agency: In the face of daily reports detailing the apprehension and execution of former soldiers by the Taliban, sources have recently brought to light the arrest of an individual named Shamsul Haq in the Dara district of Panjshir. This former soldier was forcefully taken from his residence in Tankhoi village on Tuesday, October 17, and subsequently transferred to the provincial center.
According to the sources, Shamsul Haq has endured mistreatment at the hands of the Taliban, who have also made demands of him. They sought possession of an M-4 weapon and a communication base from him. Relatives of this former government soldier have shared that he fled to Iran out of sheer fear of the Taliban in the wake of the republican regime’s collapse. Sadly, it was only a week after his return to the country that the group apprehended him.
It is crucial to emphasize that throughout their two-year reign in Afghanistan, the Taliban have consistently targeted both former soldiers and civilians across the entire nation, with particular focus on Panjshir province. They have forcibly coerced individuals into joining the National Resistance Front, subjecting them to unimaginable torture and severe physical abuse.
In the most recent and heart-wrenching case, a young man from Panjshir, who had been held captive by the Taliban in Kabul for eighteen agonizing months, tragically succumbed to death due to the excruciating torture inflicted upon him by the group merely two days ago. Despite the Taliban’s claim of offering amnesty in the aftermath of their ascendency to power, their rule in Afghanistan has been characterized by the wanton arrest, torture, and merciless killing of innocent civilians across the entire nation.
