RASC News Agency: The leaders of Russia and Tajikistan, President Vladimir Putin and President Imam Ali Rahman, engaged in a bilateral discussion regarding the current state of Tajikistan’s border with Afghanistan, alongside other relevant matters. The Kremlin has reported that the two presidents convened in Bishkek and exchanged their viewpoints on a diverse range of issues. Additionally, the Kremlin newsletter stated that the leaders delved into the further enhancement of bilateral relations across various domains, with regional security concerns being the predominant topic of discussion.
In light of the meeting, the Kremlin has announced that a comprehensive dialogue took place, encompassing various issues such as the situation on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border and the operation of the Russian military base 201 in Kyrgyzstan. Notably, President Vladimir Putin has also held separate meetings with President Sadr Jabarov of Kyrgyzstan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.
It is worth emphasizing that the Council of Heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States recently convened in Bishkek, reflecting the importance placed on coordinating efforts within the region.
Given the Taliban’s assumption of power in Afghanistan, the international community has convened numerous meetings to address the prevailing situation and the crises stemming from the group’s seizure of power.
Furthermore, it is imperative to underscore that Tajikistan has bolstered its border checkpoints with Afghanistan in response to concerns surrounding the presence and activities of terrorist groups subsequent to the Taliban’s takeover.
Numerous countries and global officials have issued warnings regarding the existence and operations of terrorist groups within Afghanistan under Taliban control.
