RASC News Agency: The Women’s Movement for Peace and Freedom has recently issued a formal appeal to the international community, calling on them to hold the Taliban leaders accountable for their actions. The organization asserts that the Taliban has consistently imposed severe restrictions on women, necessitating immediate action from the global community and the United Nations, including the implementation of sanctions and the prosecution of the group’s leaders.

In a statement released on Sunday, October 8, the Women’s Movement for Peace and Freedom emphasized that the Taliban has promulgated over 60 decrees in the last two years, specifically targeting and excluding women from Afghanistan society. This alarming situation has even led to women being forced into marriages with Taliban members.

The declaration underscores the urgent need for the international community, particularly the United Nations, to unify and condemn the heinous crimes committed by the Taliban, specifically their policy of gender apartheid. The Women’s Movement for Peace and Freedom demands the imposition of sanctions on the Taliban leaders and their subsequent prosecution.

Furthermore, the organization expresses dismay with the inadequate global response thus far, stating that mere declarations have been ineffective in addressing the egregious offenses perpetrated by the Taliban.

It is crucial to note that since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, they have persistently imposed numerous restrictions on women in the country. These restrictions include the closure of educational institutions for girls and the prohibition of women from working in both governmental and non-governmental offices.
