RASC News Agency: A number of women and girls in response to the statements of the charge d’affaires of the American Embassy say that the priority for Afghanistani women is not the fight against drugs, but the right to education and work.
Keren Decker, the charge d’affaires of the US Embassy in Qatar, posted a message on the X social network, announcing a meeting with a delegation of the Taliban in Doha and a discussion “about the fight against narcotics”.
This American diplomat wrote that the meeting was held on Tuesday (September 19) and they discussed the prohibition of opium cultivation, drug trafficking, treatment of addicts and alternative livelihoods, and the role of Afghanistani women in the fight against drugs.
The chargé d’affaires of the American embassy has emphasized that the recommendations of Afghanistani experts about the important role of women in the pursuit of drugs are “valuable” for him.
However, women and girls say that America does not enter into a dialogue with the Taliban group to continue working and educate women in a serious way, and the priority for them is the right to education and work instead of fight against drugs.
“While millions of girls are missing out on education, women are unemployed at home and the economy is extremely weak,” says Mursal, a deprived student. American officials are talking to the current government [Taliban group] about the role of women in the discussion of eradicating drugs, the current issue should be the discussion of women’s work and education, and he is marginalizing women with this work.”
Freshta, another student who survived education, said: “America said that it has talked with Taliban officials about the role of women in eradicating drugs from Afghanistan, now we women and girls of Afghanistan need more education and work.” We are ready to study in any situation. “Deciding and talking about marginal issues will reduce more than our rights.”
