RASC News Agency: The World Health Organization says that Afghanistan is currently facing a long-term humanitarian crisis and millions of people in this country are living in poverty or lack of access to health and food.
The World Health Organization published a report on Tuesday, August 29, saying that these problems have arisen after decades of instability.
According to this report, 28.8 million people in Afghanistan need urgent aid, while this figure was 18.4 million before the group regained control in August 2021.
The organization added that it needs additional funding of $125 million to continue meeting basic health needs until the end of 2023.
According to this international health organization, the lack of budget will have dire consequences.
Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Crescent for Afghanistan has also announced that currently half of the population of Afghanistan does not have access to food and health services.
Before that, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations “OCHA” said that the lack of funds in the process of providing aid in various sectors, including health, food, education and sanitary drinking water, has affected millions of needy people in Afghanistan.
In the June report of this organization on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, OCHA said that due to the lack of funds, the activities of 25 mobile health and food teams in eastern Afghanistan including Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman and Nangarhar provinces were stopped.
In addition, 1.4 million pregnant mothers, infants and children will no longer receive these foods designed to prevent malnutrition as money is cut, OCHA said.
The report stated that if the funding level, which is currently less than a quarter of needs remains constant; an estimated 7.6 million people will not have access to critical health care.
