RASC News Agency: The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that Afghanistan’s health sector is facing a significant lack of facilities, health services and budget, and if this situation continues, it will have dire consequences.
Yesterday, on August 18, this organization said in a statement that Afghanistan’s health sector is in serious need of investment in the provision of services, and if no action is taken, a large number of vulnerable people from this area will face serious danger.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization, said in a newsletter that the situation in Afghanistan is dire and the lack of resources and funds to support health workers and facilities puts the lives of countless people at risk. According to him, women and children suffer the most.
Adhanom Ghebreyesus asked for generous help from benefactors to continue and improve the health work so that they can be successful in saving people.
Dr. Ahmad Al-Mandri, Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean, also asked the international community to cooperate with the World Health Organization to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
Dr. Lu Dapeng, the representative of the World Health Organization in Afghanistan, has expressed concern about the lack of funds for the country’s health system and called for urgent measures in this sector.
He said: “The situation in Afghanistan is critical and needs immediate attention.”
According to the newsletter of this organization; currently, health aid aims to address the health emergency of 14 million people, including 7.5 million children and 3.1 million women. According to the newsletter, 8.4 million people have been helped in the first six months of the year.
According to this organization, if sufficient funding is not available, more than 8 million people in Afghanistan will lose access to essential and potentially life-saving health care.
