RASC: According to the documents that reached the media, the leader of the Taliban group has ordered the group’s cabinet to follow the plan to close Facebook.

This order, which was issued by Hebatullah Akhundzadeh, said that the Supreme Court of the Taliban group should prepare this plan in coordination with the relevant departments and submit it to the cabinet.

This order issued in the official letter of the Taliban group’s affairs department, the Supreme Court of this group on June 18.

According to this letter from the Taliban Affairs Department, the order attributed to the leader of the Taliban group states: “You should prepare a plan to restrict or ban Facebook in coordination with the relevant departments.”

In this order, the cost required to implement this plan is also considered.

Mohajer Farahi, deputy minister of information and culture of the Taliban group, said on Monday, June 26, regarding the authenticity of this letter, that no order has yet been issued to ban Facebook, but the discussions are going on at the level of a plan and solution.

Not long ago, the New York Times announced that Meta, the owner of Facebook, is trying to gather information and evaluate the plan to close the user accounts of members of the Taliban group on the WhatsApp social network.

The New York Times has mentioned WhatsApp as the “backbone” of the Taliban group’s communication system.

Before this, the Taliban group had imposed restrictions on the broadcasting of some international media such as BBC and Voice of America.

This group also warned the domestic media to refrain from broadcasting entertainment programs such as TV series and movies.

At the end of April this year, 600 Afghanistani journalists wrote in a letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations that freedom of expression has been severely restricted by the Taliban group’s domination of the country.
