RASC News Agency: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has urged countries worldwide, particularly Muslim nations, to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistani migrants during Ramadan and to dedicate their “zakat” (charitable donations) to them. In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the organization emphasized that such aid could bring “food, warmth, and hope” to migrant families. The UNHCR also highlighted that migrants and refugees are in daily struggle for survival, and during Ramadan, when their conditions worsen, they are in dire need of additional support.

The international body warned that orphans, widows, and the elderly among the migrant and refugee populations are heavily reliant on the kindness and assistance of the global community. Financial donations can help these individuals secure basic needs, such as a warm meal, clean water, shelter, and other essential services. Ramadan in Afghanistani continues under the shadow of a severe humanitarian crisis. The World Food Programme (WFP) had previously warned that hunger remains a dire threat to millions in the country, with one-third of the Afghanistani population facing “acute hunger.” The UN agency noted that one in three people in Afghanistani is grappling with severe food shortages. Despite humanitarian aid, the situation remains critical.

The WFP is also launching a campaign to encourage the global community to contribute to feeding the needy families in Afghanistani. The agency has called on the international community to increase their contributions to prevent the further spread of the ongoing humanitarian disaster in the country.
