RASC News Agency: The Taliban have officially shut down INTERSOS, an Italian humanitarian organization that provided critical healthcare services in Kabul and other provinces. INTERSOS, an international non-governmental organization headquartered in Italy, was actively engaged in delivering essential medical aid across Afghanistan. A significant number of employees were involved in the organization’s operations, offering healthcare services to vulnerable communities. However, multiple contracted staff members confirmed that, following a direct order from the Taliban’s Ministry of Economy, INTERSOS offices have been forcibly closed. The Italian director of the organization instructed hundreds of employees to immediately vacate their positions.
According to employees, INTERSOS had operations in the provinces of Kabul, Kandahar, and Zabul, employing hundreds of medical and support staff. Earlier this year, the organization also initiated emergency healthcare programs in Ghor province. Despite these efforts, an official directive signed by Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, the Taliban’s Minister of Economy, has surfaced in the media, confirming the immediate revocation of INTERSOS’s operational license. The document states that the organization’s activities must cease in accordance with orders from the Taliban leadership.
Additionally, the directive mandates that all assets belonging to INTERSOS be confiscated and transferred to Taliban authorities. This move is part of a broader crackdown on international aid organizations. Over the past few months, the Taliban have systematically shut down multiple foreign humanitarian agencies. Under direct orders from Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s supreme leader, most international relief operations in Afghanistan have been suspended.
