RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Justice under the Taliban regime has announced the confiscation of 1,035.5 acres of land in the Shadian Desert of Balkh Province, land that was previously privately owned. According to an official statement released on Tuesday, October 22, the land, located near the Mazar-e-Sharif Textile Company Road, was expropriated after what the Taliban described as a thorough review of ownership documents. The Taliban claimed that the landowners failed to present valid proof of ownership, leading to the land being declared as state property.
Previously, the Taliban’s Commission for the Prevention of Land Usurpation had investigated the matter. However, due to ongoing disputes and dissatisfaction from the owners, the case was reassessed by the Special Land Grabbing Court. The Taliban further emphasized that one of their central objectives is the prevention of land seizures and the reclaiming of illegally acquired properties. This latest land grab follows a pattern that has emerged over the last three years, where the Taliban has systematically confiscated land across various provinces under varying pretexts, redistributing it to their supporters.
Just recently, local sources in Badakhshan reported that Taliban forces had seized both private and public properties in the Ashkasham District. Empowered by their military takeover and emboldened by deals with U.S. intelligence and the corrupt regime of former President Ashraf Ghani, the Taliban views the wealth and property of Afghanistan’s citizens as legitimate spoils of war. Consequently, they have seized land and homes at will, redistributing them to their commanders and loyalists, further entrenching their control over the country’s resources.
