Taliban Official Accused of Sexual Assault on Young Woman in Daikundi

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Daikundi province report that an official from the Taliban’s “Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” in Khadir district allegedly committed sexual assault against a young woman. At least two credible sources confirmed to the media that on Friday, August 23, a young woman was assaulted by a man identified as “Nosrat Parsa,” the financial manager of the Taliban’s department in Khadir district.

According to these sources, the young woman, a resident of the “Korgeh” area in Khadir district, had gone to the local market for shopping when she was forcibly taken to a secluded location by this Taliban official, who threatened and overpowered her. The incident reportedly occurred near the market area of Korgeh, where Nosrat Parsa also resides.

The sources further revealed that the Taliban official has since threatened the girl’s family, leveraging his influence within the local Taliban administration to obstruct any legal action against him. Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, numerous reports have surfaced of sexual assaults committed by members of the group. “Afghanistan Witness,” a research project monitoring human rights in Afghanistan, recently reported that over the past two and a half years, at least 75 cases of sexual assault have been documented, with seven of these cases resulting in the murder of the victims after the assault.

Reports of sexual violence against women in Taliban prisons have also been widely circulated. Notably, the Guardian and Rukhshana Media recently reported on a video depicting Taliban forces gang-raping a female rights activist in one of their prisons. According to these reports, the Taliban sent the video to the victim after she had been released and left Afghanistan, threatening to send it to her family and release it on social media if she continued her activism against the Taliban.
