RASC News Agency: Following reports of the Taliban reopening 47 girls’ schools in Kabul, the Ministry of Education of the Taliban has declared these reports as rumors, asserting they have no such intentions. According to a statement issued by Mansoor Ahmad Hamza, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Education on Monday, July 8, the alleged reopening of 47 girls’ schools in Kabul is not factual, and the media have disseminated reports contrary to journalistic ethics.
Previously, Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, reported based on the Taliban’s assertion that the group intends to reopen 47 private girls’ schools in Kabul. The Taliban’s Ministry of Education has vehemently denied any such intentions. Upon regaining control over Afghanistan, the Taliban initially barred girls above the sixth grade from attending schools and subsequently prevented female students from entering universities.
While the Taliban have kept girls’ schools closed during these past three years and faced allegations of human rights violations, the United Nations and the global community have increased their engagement with this group. The exclusion of girls from education has triggered significant domestic and international reactions, leading Afghanistan to be recognized as the only country where girls above the sixth grade are deprived of access to schools and universities.
