RASC News Agency: Sources report that the Taliban’s intelligence agency in Parwan Province has detained Abdullah Danish, a former journalist for Maaref TV. According to sources, Mr. Danish was arrested on the evening of Thursday, June 13, in Bagrami District. Sources indicate that after his arrest, the Taliban intelligence transferred the journalist to an undisclosed location.
Taliban officials have not yet commented on Mr. Danish’s detention. Sources further state that the local journalist previously worked for the private Mitra TV and the state-run Maaref TV network. The Taliban have previously detained several journalists in the provinces of Panjshir, Kabul, and Parwan. Notably, in the past two years, hundreds of individuals have been detained, tortured, and humiliated without any charges. Many remain in prison, accused of various crimes, often unaware of the charges against them.
Many have been wrongfully arrested based on old grudges, and ethnic and linguistic differences. The Taliban have committed brutal killings and arbitrary detentions in Panjshir. In the most recent incident, ten youths were detained in Rukha District, Panjshir, and transferred to Kabul ten days ago. Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned of systemic killings and detentions in Afghanistan based on linguistic and ethnic conflicts.
Previously, the Taliban demonstrated hostility towards signs written in Persian, tearing them down and replacing them with Pashto signs. Today, language and ethnicity have become sources of tension, claiming many lives based on ethnic affiliations.
