RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that an individual in Parwan province has been publicly flogged for allegedly “trafficking narcotics.” In a statement released today, Saturday, June 1, the court detailed that the sentence was carried out by the primary urban court of Parwan province last Thursday.
According to the statement, the individual received 39 lashes and was also sentenced to two years of imprisonment. The Supreme Court of the Taliban did not provide details on how the flogging was conducted, but historically, the group has carried out such punishments in public.
Recently, the Taliban have escalated the public punishment of accused individuals. In the past week alone, the group has flogged ten individuals in Khost, four in Kunduz, two in Ghazni, and one in Paktika.
