RASC News Agency: Local sources from Badakhshan Province report the death of a doctor due to beatings and torture by Taliban members in the region. Sources on Tuesday, June 27th, informed the media that Taliban members had recently assaulted and tortured a doctor named Sardar.
According to these sources, Sardar was originally from the Kishim district of Badakhshan Province. The Taliban allegedly targeted him due to his opposition to their ideology. The sources further revealed that Sardar passed away late Sunday at his home. He was reportedly engaged in healthcare activities and had no affiliations with any group. Local Taliban officials in Badakhshan have yet to comment on the matter. Since the Taliban’s resurgence in the country, human rights organizations have accused the group of committing war crimes.
Over the past nearly three years, the Taliban have consistently detained, tortured, and killed former government soldiers and civilians for various reasons. In a related incident on May 13th, the torture by the head of the Taliban’s Third Security District in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province, resulted in the deaths of two residents, Abdul Muneed and Munir Ahmad.
