Taliban: No Entry to Restaurants Without a Marriage Certificate

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Herat Province report that the Taliban have imposed new restrictions on families, particularly targeting women. On Sunday, May 26th, sources informed the media that the Taliban’s Department of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Herat has mandated that restaurants must not allow entry to men and women without a marriage certificate.

According to these sources, restaurant owners, following orders from the Taliban’s Department of Promotion of Virtue, are prohibiting customers who do not present a marriage certificate from entering their establishments. The Taliban authorities in Herat have yet to comment on this matter. However, since their takeover of the country, the Taliban have continuously implemented increasing restrictions on the lives of citizens, especially women.

For instance, in a previous directive, the Taliban’s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice banned women from visiting amusement parks and imposed various restrictions on their mobility. Moreover, under Taliban rule in Afghanistan, girls above the sixth grade have been barred from attending school, and universities have also been closed to them by the Taliban.
