RASC News Agency: Local sources from Herat Province report that unidentified gunmen have attacked a Taliban checkpoint in the region. Sources informed the media on Sunday, May 26th, that the attack occurred on Friday night at the “Dizak Checkpoint” in Guzara District, Herat Province.
It remains unclear who carried out the attack, and the Taliban in Herat have yet to comment on the incident. This attack follows a claim by the National Resistance Front last Thursday night that its forces killed two Taliban members in the 15th district of Herat city.
While the National Resistance Front asserted that it had killed two Taliban members and injured another in the attack, the Taliban claimed their forces were engaged with “armed robbers” that night. Since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, the National Resistance Front has intermittently reported carrying out attacks against Taliban members in various provinces.
